WAQRAPUKARA-RAQCHI-CIRCUITO DE LAS 4 LAGUNAS (2 OR 3 DAYS)
Itinerary
In this trek can last for two or three days depending on whether you chose the option of camping in Waqrapukara (which would add the third day to this trip). On the first day we will leav e early to go to Valle Sur. We will visit Andahuaylillas and Pikillaqta and then continue on to Raqchi which is 117km from Cusco.
Raqchi (Temple of Wiracocha or Partenon Inka) is considered one of the boldest engineering works carried out by the Inkas.
The archeological area consists of:
-The Temple of Wiracocha; construction of stone and mud ubicado en una explanada y dividido en dos naves con gigantescas columnas y uros que llegan a tener 14 metros de altura
-Military barracks
-The nucleus priest??
-The Inkan baths
After visiting Raqchi, we will travel to Acomayo by the route or circuit of the four lagoons. In Acumayo we will spend the night in a hotel, to be able to visit Waqrapukara the next day.
We will do the first part of this tour by car until arriving to the town of Huayqui. Here we will begin our trek by the very ancient Inka trail. It is also possible to visit the cave paintings of ‘llamajpinta’.
Waqrapukara (Strength of the horns) is found at 4300msnm. It is surrounded by impressive plazas and a forest of stones. As an archaeological monument is it marvellous and its spectacular rock formations make it a top-level route.
The Ministry of Culture has implemented a zone for camping near to Waqrapukara; if you chose to add another day to this trip you will be able to enjoy camping in the beautiful surroundings of this archaeological site.
Finishing our tour of Waqrapukara, we will return to Huayqui where our private transport will take us back to Cusco.
