Itinerary
We will collect you from your hotel and travel to Huaca Cheqtaqaqa (the split rock), which is the beginning to our experience in the sacred ritual sites of the biggest and most important spiritual centre of the Andean universe. In this site, artistic and cosmic designs have been carved in the rock.
Following this, we will visit Lanlakuyoq (House of the elves) where we will see paths and labyrinths in the stone; known as ‘chinkanas’.
Our transport will leave us in Tambomachay, the Temple of the water; a place of purification where we will begin our trek. We will pass by Pukapukara which was an Inkan settlement which apart from its military and administrative uses, was used also as an astronomical observatory.
We will then continue to descend until arriving to Salapunki (Temple of the moon, described in part 13.).From this site we will hike the Inka trail from Antisuyo, passing by Kusilluchayoq (the cave of the monkeys) which is named this for the number of monkeys carved in its stones.
We will finish the morning in Q ‘enqo. After a well-earned rest we will have the rest of the afternoon to explore the sanctuary of Sacsayhuaman.
